As an exercise in improving my Greek I today spent a while translating an article in a local newspaper entitled "691 Συλλήψεις Στην Κρητη τον Αύγουστο" (691 arrests in Crete during August). The article includes some interesting statistics and shows clearly the different emphasis of police work here in Crete compared to countries such as the UK.
